The Plan was shaped by extensive community engagement undertaken throughout 2024 and 2025, including a public exhibition period that attracted feedback from residents, landholders, businesses and community groups. Community input led to a range of improvements, including factual corrections, additional actions and clearer implementation priorities.

Key issues raised during consultation included water security, housing, road impacts, community wellbeing, workforce pressures, agricultural land, biodiversity and the cumulative impacts of large-scale renewable energy development.

While decisions about renewable energy projects are made by the NSW Government, the RESAP provides Council with a community-informed roadmap to advocate for local priorities, minimise adverse impacts and pursue fair outcomes for Uralla Shire.

Developed in partnership with The Next Economy through the Striking a New Deal initiative, the Plan will help Council proactively manage the opportunities and challenges associated with the New England Renewable Energy Zone. Implementation will now occur through Council's existing advocacy, planning and partnership activities.

This platform will provide information on how the Plan is being implemented, as well as providing you with opportunities to Have Your Say.
