You are invited to have your say on the draft Uralla Shire Growth Management Strategy 2026–2046.

The draft Strategy is on public exhibition for 28 days, closing at 5pm on Thursday, 23 July 2026.

About the Strategy

The draft Growth Management Strategy sets out a long-term plan to guide how Uralla Shire will grow and change over the next 20 years.

It provides a clear and practical framework to:

  • Manage population growth and housing demand
  • Plan for new jobs and economic opportunities
  • Ensure infrastructure keeps pace with development
  • Protect what makes Uralla special.

Growth is already happening across the region, driven by renewable energy investment, changing housing needs and increased interest in regional living.

This Strategy aims to ensure that growth is well-planned, sustainable and aligned with community values - protecting our rural character, heritage and landscapes while supporting a strong local economy and connected communities.

Why your input matters

Community feedback has helped shape this draft, and now we want to hear from you.

We know our community values:

  • Uralla’s unique identity and village character
  • Our rural landscapes and environment
  • Strong local connections and sense of place.

Your feedback will help ensure the final Strategy reflects these values and delivers the best outcomes for the future of our Shire.

What the Strategy covers

The draft Strategy looks at:

  • Where future housing, jobs and infrastructure should go
  • How to manage growth from renewable energy projects
  • Housing supply, choice and affordability
  • Infrastructure needs such as water, sewer and roads
  • Workforce accommodation

The GMS is our 20-year plan for managing growth and change across Uralla Shire. This survey provides you with an opportunity to inform and shape the strategy and the future of Uralla. We have structured the survey so that you don't need to be familiar with the content of the GMS - each section explains a part of the strategy and then asks for your thoughts. The survey should only take 10-15 minutes, and you can skip most questions. If you'd like your response treated as a formal submission, there's an option at the end.
